Logo DESIGN

1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo.

While doing the logo design, I thought about what I could use as something to represent myself. I thought of something that I have never seen before and was very intrigued that I was able to use my name as a reference.

2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation.

I thought of my name, and how I could use to @ symbol as the "att" in Matt, so then i put them together to create a unique way to write my name. I used it because I feel that I bring a lot of different things and I like to represent myself as a person who can be symbolized with something.

3. What was the most important discovery you made in the creation of your logo?

The most important discovery was that I found out I could come up with something, with no prior knowledge and still come up with something on the spot. I didn't know that I had that in me, so to me, that was very important.

4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos, powerpoint, and reading material  for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
From watching the videos and powerpoints i realized that the logo is the most important factor of a company. Because that is how a viewer looks at the company, they relate to it, and they put it as an image that will represent your company.

Art Gallery Visit #1

A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?

No Title (El Greco Window) 2001
I felt that this artwork made a big impression on me when I saw it. When I looked at it, I thought of a kitchen floor, and when it being blurry it could resemble someone being hurt and starring down at the kitchen floor. I felt sad looking at this so it made a big impression on me.
No Title ( Folding Table and Chairs, beige), 2006
When I saw this it made a great impression on me because I immediately started thinking of how small people are in the world. We are just a small speck on the radar compared to the world as a whole. And looking at the big folding table and chairs, I felt somewhat like an ant I guess you would say.

B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why?

Francis Celentano - "Gamma", 1970
When I looked at this image I really felt a fun connection, I watched that show "The Big Bang Theory" a lot and when I saw this I thought about it. They are always talking about science, gamma rays, and the Doppler effect and it just really was cool to get the feeling of connection from the image that was presented.
The Recycle Group "Black Friday" 2013
Audrey Blokhin
Georgiy Kuznetsov
I thought this was a really great piece of work, this was something that I had a really good connection with. It was people in a clutter buying things on black Friday. I had a connection because I have been in the situation where I was rushing and trying to buy everything, and everything was just a huge mess.

C.) Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?

                                                 Jackson Pollack - "Convergence" 1952
I feel that I would want to know more about this painting, because I feel that there is a lot of conflict within it. Conflict that cannot be explained unless it was looked up and researched. I feel that there are a lot of ideas within this painting, and would like to know what those ideas are.

Lee Bontecou - "Untitled", 1960
I want to know more about this piece of art because when I looked at it, for some reason I thought of a transformer like piece. Something that was trying to turn into something else or something. Because it didn't really make too much sense to me, I would like to know more about it.

Other Images I Like as I was there
Chaim Soutine
Carcass of Beef, 1925

This I couldn't find what its called or who created it, but it reminded me of the movie Inception with the never ending staircase.

Color Theory (Part 2)

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
    - I enjoyed creating these images, I was amazed about how the primary colors meshed with each other to create those secondary colors. Then the Black to White scale was interesting, because I never actually took the time to work my way from black to work.

2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
   - I really like the wheel media,  the paints were a lot of fun to work with and I thought the mixing of the paints turned out to be quite entertaining.

3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
     - The most important discovery was that I learned that Red,Blue, and Yellow aren't exactly the primary colors. Magenta and Cyan and Yellow are the primary where I thought my whole life it was the other way around.

4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
   - What I thought was important about the videos was how the colors blended together and went from the primary into the secondary colors.

Blog - Color Theory and Emotional Effects

1.) Color is the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light. The way it effects emotions is that certain colors can have more effect than others. Brighter colors can give a more up beat and happier emotion compared to a darker one. The person feels what colors are trying to say, because you are looking at colors being reflected.

2.) What I found to be most fascinating about color is how it all is reflected and that is what we look at. Even when you are looking at building like the ones from Venice, you see the color of the building which has its painted color but the water reflection gives it a different look that resembles a even different emotion.

3.) What made the biggest regard of color is how someone whose painting can be affected by the colors within it. You paint or create something with emotions throughout it, and you sought out to make it right, by drawing what you remember and felt. They can also change the colors throughout the whole process to adjust it to make it more of what they were feeling.

4.) What I found the most important about this video was how what was going on in the world effected their paintings and emotions. The revolution, and renaissance was going on which had people with all their ideas and feelings being put into their works.

Blog: Video and CNN Article Review

1.) From watching the two videos and reading the article I found there to be many key concepts within each of them. First the video on aesthetics and the philosophy of art, it was really intriguing reading about the different theories and takes on aesthetics and how it has developed over the years. The concepts in this video very from different perspectives on the subject, opinions, where the idea came from, the meaning of aesthetics (a term negotiated with beauty), and the way that time changed the thought process of it all. Within the CARTA video, Changeux and Ramachandran argued that art is not just something that is creative or brought about, rather it is something that has happened due to the development of the human brain throughout history. They described their theories and the arguments presented,  as well as showing exactly how certain things of art can be linked to the process of the human brain (Very interesting by the way, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0TKYxAYGGA). While reading the article, I discovered that I have a totally new outlook on art, not alone have I been taking the whole concept for granted but now it seems as if due to evolutionary change, is a key reason to certain art perspectives. It described how we view certain colors, faces, drawings, lines, etc, throughout the course of the brain being evolved.

2.) I found Plato's theory of aesthetics to be the most important within this video. His era was the 4 century B.C. and his contribution to aesthetics was that he came up with the idea of looking beyond the senses. He also was the foundation of what we today view as beautiful. He termed the word beautiful describing it as something beautiful would attract the person who see's it. He doesn't necessarily mention all types of arts, but he does give a greatly impression on the views of art and ideas for future philosophers.

3.) All this time, I viewed art as something creative, something that some people create in their minds and putting it on paper, or making it. While watching this video, my ideas began to change because these two guys showed great proof on how the evolution of the brain is the lead key reason to why certain things are created. By stating that as the brain evolves, we would view certain things differently, which I agree with to an extent. I still would like to believe that art isn't just something that is evolved, I still want to believe that it's something that is special and unique. The most interesting thing about the lectures was that Ramachandran described how a butterfly wasn't coined as beautiful, but then eventually was viewed that way. Also how an Indian sculpture can be ugly in some ways but beautiful in another, depending on where the development in the brain is currently stated. What I found interesting when Changeux was speaking, was how he said the change of emotions through evolving brain would lead to change in many aspects of art.

4.) These videos and article relate very differently then compared to the book. The book is all about how things are beautiful just because, and people create everything from creativity and impulses. While in the videos, it was stated very clearly that there are REASONS and TRUTH behind it all and it's just was a very interesting argument given because how exactly are we going to know that someones ideas and thoughts basically, are only because of where their brain is currently adapted? So does this mean that 50-100 years down the road, will art be considered something else? Will it be known for others things to be beautiful that don't seem to be today? Questions only time will tell in answering.

5.) I enjoyed the videos and the articles very much, I may not however agree 100% on some of the ideas that were given but that's where the arguments come into play. I like knowing that there is reasons and truth out there, but I don't like the fact that the theories are stating that artists are only thinking a certain way because of the evolving of their brains. I want to think they are thinking that way because its something that just occurs. These works give me more depth in understanding topics in the reading of the texts because now I'll be able to look at the subjects and ideas in a different way, instead of just assuming that something is beautiful and that's it, now I can argue that it's beautiful only because.... etc. I enjoyed the text readings, and the videos along with the article. It's just crazy to think that things that were known as creativity can now be linked to something along the lines of evolutionary development in the brain.
