Week 13-14 Blog: Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Thew
The Lowdown on Lowbrow: I learned that even artists who express their opinions can be criticized for their choices on what to draw. I feel that expressionism is a huge part of art and it was being frowned upon in this aspect.

Displaying Modern Art: The Tate Approach:This video was very important because is discussed the concepts on deciding the displayed sense of art. Putting them in such a way that it attracts people was known as the Tate approach and it game much emphasis on they way people need to look at format as well as style.

Bones of Contention: A very moving video where is discussed the importance of looking at the past and studying the facts to determine the cultures and tribal heritages. Shows that some cultures would have benefited from knowing about the past regions.

An Acquiring Mind: A very important concept learned was that a museum is never completed, you cannot allow for a museum to become a museum. There will always things to reestablish works of art.

2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.

I think all the videos relate to the art exhibition project because the project is about choosing a theme, choosing what you want to pick for your pictures, and deciding on your own theme. It's all about choice, and the videos discussed how there is freedom among those artists. However in some aspects there are those who harp on some subject matters but no one should hide what they feel and what they want to do.

3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?

I liked the films, it helped me understand a little bit more about what curators and people who work with the art go through on a day to day basis. Deciding what goes where, criticism from others on critiquing their work, its a very extensive process that I feel would be beneficial to everyone to learn about.

Module 12: Blog Reviews

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.

I chose the video about Andy Warhol because he's one of the view artists that I actually have heard about, so I thought it would be very interesting to learn more about him

I chose the Photography video because I wanted to get a different perspective on art, one from a drawing standpoint and then one from images/camera view.

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

Andy Warhol - I thought this video was very interesting because this artist was able to take an image, crop it, then color it, discolor it, and change the image ever so slightly that it made him famous (mainly for Monroe)

I learned the importance of how the camera and photography can have such a implication on art. It can all be done with a brush with artists, but it's just important to take a correct picture as well in order to make a great image.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

This video relates to the texts because it was explained about how the new changes in technology and stuff was helping aid the artists, well this was a prime example of the helpfulness.

This was a real development  for artists, still pictures became a great influence of those artists who wanted to "revisit" their image.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

This was probably one of the more enjoyable films to watch through the semester, because I am a huge fan of celebrities and movies so to learn about some of them was very entertaining.

This film was good as well, however I do feel it explained a lot more in the book.

2.)

3.)

I really enjoyed going to the gallery at looking at it in a different perspective. I thought it was really cool how I had to pay attention to my surroundings instead of just walking through it. I ended up learning a lot and the three images I interpreted, it was really interesting to sit there and really think about what I was seeing in front of me.

Module 11: Blog Reviews

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.

I chose the Expressionism video because I always felt that people use drawings and sculptures as a way to show their true feelings, and it comes out in their work.

I chose the Picasso video because he was always one of my favorite artists and it's just a really great time to learn more about someone who inspired so much work of future generations.

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

The concept I learned in the expressionism video was that people were able to draw what they saw and not what they see. Its very important in drawing exactly what is in front of them.
The other video I learned that there was a battle of greatness between the two painters, while one felt that things needed to be shown via emotions, the other wanted to draw real life inspirations.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

These videos relate to the readings by just creating a more complex in take on the definitions and insight from the readings. Everything was basically the same except the videos were able to show a visual aspect of the readings which I find to be a lot easier in learning.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I enjoyed the videos, I thought they gave really good concepts to the certain things we were learning about. I also feel that they were very important because it showed that expressionism is in almost everything.
